Narwhal

Narwhal

The narwhal is an Arctic species that forages along ice edges and migrates along the coast of Greenland during the winter. However, global warming has been causing more rainstorms in the Arctic, which leaves water susceptible to sudden freezing events. Open areas of water can suddenly become impenetrable ice sheets, trapping narwhals from surfacing to get the air they need.

Scientific name: Monodon monoceros
IUCN Red List: Data Deficient
