Caribou
Caribou in North America are really wild reindeer. Sometimes running 50 miles per hour, caribou migrate more than 3,000 miles every year—farther than any other land animal—on special, large hooves that act like snowshoes on snow and soggy tundra and efficient paddles in fast-flowing water. However, their movement is being hampered by increased snowfall in the high Arctic caused by increased moisture in the air. This precipitation can put a glaze of ice over plants the caribou eats, both killing the plants and making them inaccessible to caribou.
